The T.E.C. Schools. Think. Explore. Create.

S.T.E.A.M. Integration

The robust, comprehensive S.T.E.A.M. curriculum encourages students to think big…the sky’s the limit! Our hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math curriculum stimulates children’s imagination, motivating them to expand their knowledge, and develop critical thinking skills. This experiential component of our teaching method inspires students to be passionate about their learning. They develop  time management, collaboration, and peer mentoring skills while exercising their creativity.

Annual S.T.E.A.M. Faire

Students at The T.E.C. Schools participate in a comprehensive and immersive S.T.E.A.M. Faire, a project which brings together all of their learning in one unit. Students work excitedly for six weeks to research, experiment and build their project. The project is integrated into the classwork and the learners do some work on it every day, whether exploring the design process in art and design class, or creating the technical element, or setting up and running their experiments, or reading and taking notes for the poster and final report. On completing the projects, students become experts in their topics of study.

Science

The study of science helps students understand how the world works. Students set out their hypothesis, conduct experiments and learn how to collect, analyze and graph data. Students learn research and note taking skills, and practice writing essays, drawing conclusions from their experiments.

Technology

How did our lives become comfortable? Students study the trades and skills of the past to develop an integrated sense of life. They explore the mindset that technology is a set of tools used by humans to create efficient ways to address our needs, thus making our environment better.

Engineering

In this hands-on component of their studies, students learn the iterative engineering design process to explore the fundamental principles that make our world work. In a systematic approach from learning about safety methods to handling specialized tools, students use technology to innovate and create solutions.

Arts

Arts at T.E.C. are based on the precept that music and art are nature’s reward for cognitive fitness, a pleasurable means of encouraging wholesomeness of the mind. Therefore music and art, analogously with pursuit of physical fitness, are approached as a means of cultivating the student’s moral and emotional well-being and sense of interest in and enjoyment of his own mind and spirit.

Math

Maria Montessori researched and designed an amazing amount of materials for teaching math to children. The materials are bright and engaging, and the students enjoy working with them. In the process, they develop an understanding of math concepts from concrete to abstract. They learn the fundamentals of math, not just rote memorization. The hand and mind together connects the concepts in a deeper way, engaging more of the brain and forging strong associations that the students can draw on when working with more difficult problems.

"We are so grateful we found T.E.C. The Montessori experience combined with the rigorous S.T.E.A.M. curriculum was exactly what our daughters needed. The teachers are fantastic, engaging, and dedicated to seeing the students enjoy learning and succeed. We love that Ms. Sharma is able to bring in teachers with diverse, real world experiences. Not only does it make for a more robust education, it is so inspiring to the students to have real life professionals as their instructors.

The assignments are well planned, challenging, and fun. From writing their own poetry, memorizing and reciting poems, using graphic design to craft books, scripting and performing a shadow puppet play online, collecting data and using Scratch to program a model of a supermoon lunar eclipse, putting on their own play with songs in English and Hindi (which they still sing!), building their own gingerbread houses using precise measurements and design elements, researching and celebrating other countries, and our absolute favorite - Mystery History -- these are just some of the projects our daughters did at T.E.C."
